Abby Wambach Joins Copa90 to Cover 2019 World Cup

Soccer legend Abby Wambach will be in France for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019. But this time around, she’s taking her talents beyond the pitch, and into the media realm. COPA90, the London-based multi-platform media company, has announced the hiring of Wambach. In the new role, she’ll guide event coverage across Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and other social media platforms.

Team Dignitas Stays In-House, Taps Heather Garozzo for VP of Marketing Role

Team Dignitas, one of the oldest and most high-profile esports teams (owned by the 76ers), has found a new VP of marketing. Heather Garozzo, who’s been with Dignitas since 2017, broke the news of her new role via Twitter. Garozzo previously served as the team’s director of fan marketing, where she was responsible for the development and execution of their social media and broadcasting strategy.

Former Nets Star Richard Jefferson Joins YES Network

Richard Jefferson, the former New Jersey Nets forward who played a big part in the team’s back-to-back NBA Finals appearances, is joining YES Network as a studio analyst for his former team. Jefferson’s made a name for himself as a basketball personality with a refreshing perspective, particularly during his time with the Cavs, where he launched the still popular podcast Road Trippin’ on LeBron’s UNINTERRUPTED platform, making him “highly sought after” in broadcasting free agency.

NBC Sports Washington Makes Two Digital Content Hires

NBC Sports Washington is making two key hires to its digital content department: Matt Volk and Nina Mandell. Volk joins the team as VP of content strategy and will be responsible for programming, production, as well as digital and social media. Most recently, he served as director of programming and acquisitions for ESPN. Mandell joins the team as director of digital media and managing editor—a newly formed role where she’ll lead website, mobile and social content. Prior to joining NBCSW, Mandell was managing editor at USA Today’s For The Win.
